Where there is life, there is Hope

My husband, Colin and I saw the Hope Diamond when we visited Washington, D.C. It was at the Smithsonian Institute - and soon would be moved to its original location in another country.

According to Wikipedia, the Hope Diamond is one of the most famous jewels in the world, with ownership records dating back almost four centuries. Its much-admired rare blue color is due to trace amounts of boron atoms. Weighing 45.52 carats, its exceptional size has revealed new findings about the formation of gemstones.

The Hope Diamond is a lovely stone. However, John, a disciple of Christ, wrote about something far greater than anything on this earth.

Heaven was revealed to him. “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like jasper, clear as a crystal.  It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. Revelation 21: 1, 11-12

Heaven will not need the sun or moon to shine on it, for God’s glory will give a brilliant light. There will be no tears or pain in heaven. Our bodies will be transformed, no longer suffering but moving mightily as God directs. In heaven we will be singing praises to God. The angels will be rejoicing as the saints gather together bowing before God. Any crowns or gifts we receive, we will lay at the foot of Jesus. For Christ is worthy to receive honor and glory forever.

John received a vision on the island Patmos. In this place of total solitude, he listened for and heard God’s voice. Through the inspired revelation he received from the Lord, he left for us today a spectacular, vivid, and perfect glimpse of God’s kingdom.

Jesus will be sitting on the throne. All those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior will be bowing down before him.

We will never have a need. “Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst.  The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.  For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Revelation 7:16-17

God has a plan for all to go to heaven and enjoy life eternal. His free gift of salvation is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is God’s desire to see lives changed by his power. Meet him where He is today and you will someday see those brilliant lights shining as pure gold in his Kingdom. Angels will be all around us as we walk down the streets of glistening gold.

“Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.” Psalm 119:49
