Arise and Shine

This is one of my favorite scriptures - “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” Isaiah 60:1 

Arise – Jesus told the man at the pool of Bethesda, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.”  Stand – move – and share God’s Word. We have to do something ….step out in faith. 

Shine – Our lives should be illuminated because of God’s light in us. When we are walking in His light – our lives will reveal His presence. Remember the words of Paul: “Think on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8 

For your light has come – Our light should shine – people should be drawn to us because of the radiance of Christ. 

And the glory of the Lord rises upon you – God’s glory – His presence and all His love, joy, and peace will be upon us. If you are feeling discouraged and problems seem to overwhelm you – look to the only One who can give you the abundant life Jesus wanted for us.

 

How can we shine in a world full of darkness? Try planting a seed focusing on the need – watch the harvest come up just like a farmer does when he plants his seeds. It’s not only about money but when we plant a seed of kindness - people will be kind to you. If we plant a seed of love - others will reach out to us in love. When we plant a seed of joy - the joy of the Lord will spring up in our hearts.
