Writing is a Rewarding Journey

It has been over 30 years since I started writing for publication. In 1985 the Scripture Jeremiah 30:2 changed my life!  I felt a strong desire to learn how to use my life journey to minister to others through the inspired word.

First, I needed to learn how to write. I rented a typewriter and took a Writer's Digest course on How to Write Nonfiction. Then came Writing conferences. I started attending the Florida Christian Writer's Conference in Titusville and attended each year for almost 20 years. This is where I learned how to write for Christian publications. I connected with other writers, editors, and publishers to encourage one another. The conference I attended had a small chapel and I would go and pray, seeking God's direction. I received inspiration through the worship and workshop leaders. When we shared our meals together we learned from one another.

Second, I had to study the craft. I bought many great books about writing. Also felt to attend college after being out of school for many years. I worked full time and went to college in the evening earning a degree many years later. Through it all I began to consistently improve.

Last, I had to stick with it and never give up.  With God's help it has been a long journey but so rewarding!  Giving Him the praise and honor for it has truly been His hand that has led me every step of the way to this 30th anniversary. Let me encourage you to step out in faith seeking direction for your journey.  What ever you have a passion to do, do it. The rewards are far greater than all the work that has gone into this craft.

If you have any questions I'll be glad to answer them.
